Food:
Boardmans -Rosemary St., Chapel Hill – ok food… looking for much better bbq elsewhere.
Carolina Brewery – GREAT food. Franklin St
Chubby’s Tacos – 9th St., Durham. Omg. So good. Get the fish tacos!
Mama Dips- Rosemary St., Chapel Hill – pretty good, but way overpriced
Mayfel’s- Asheville. Sandwiches. OMG SO GOOD
Mediterranean Deli- Franklin St., Chapel Hill – loads of options, delicious!
Mellow Mushroom – I went to the one in Asheville but they’re all over. Good pizza. Good beer. Delicious!
Sandwhich -Franklin St., Chapel Hill. Good sandwiches… but pricey.
Top of the Hill – Franklin/Columbia, Chapel Hill – amazing food, great outdoor patio, great view
???- little Mexican place on 9th St in Durham, right across from the parking lot. Delicious.
???- W. Franklin, Chapel Hill. the ‘not so good’ indian place on franklin, near the ‘slightly better’ indian place… depends on who you ask at the office. Good food, great price for lunch!
Bars:
Four Corners- E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill -great sports bar
He’s Not There -so undergrad. But lots of outdoor seating, somewhat cheap beers
Tylers – Main St., Carrboro -expensive but nice logo glass night on Tuesdays
Raleigh Times- Old newspaper office. Great Beer, great bbq! Dtown Raleigh.
Outdoors:
Blue Ridge Parkway -no need to explicate
Eno River State Park -just north of Durham. Short hikes. Proximity is its strong suit.
Figure Eight Island- you can’t go. A private island in the Outer Banks around Wilmington. Beautiful marshes to kayak in, a beach just a few feet from the porch. Amazing.
Pisgah National Forest -South of Asheville, by Brevard. Breathtaking.
Stone Mountain State Park – off 21 N near Roaring Gap. Probably nice views, decent hiking… will go back in the sunlight and re-examine. Pretty close to Chapel Hill.
Wrightsville Beach – near Wilmington. Lovely ocean. Terribly crowded.
City Sights:
Carolina Inn, Chapel Hill – Fridays are bluegrass and drinks.
Capitol – Raleigh. Worth a quick trip inside.
The National- music venue in Richmond on Broad Street. Awesome.
Visulite Theatre – Charlotte on Elizabeth. Weird little venue… area is a little sketch… but pretty fun to see shows in.
